Meet our team

At compass vets we have an experienced team of vets and support staff working to bring you excellent care.

Sootles

Sootles

Clinic Cat

Sootles, (aka Sooty, Fluffy McBootle) is our clinic cat and inbuilt calming body for frazzled vets and support staff alike.

She narrowly escaped euthanasia when her former human needed to enter a supported accommodation facility.

It is unclear if Sootles is in-fact an apex predator or sloth……

Vinnie

Vinnie

Clinic Doggo

Vinnie’s application said that he was the outdoor type……..He lied!!

He is a lap dog and hates the cold.

He also doesn’t like going in the car, is scared of cows and does not get out of bed before 9 am!!

Lady Destiny of Almora

Lady Destiny of Almora

Clinic Cow

Destiny literally landed on her feet when she landed here!!

Her role here at Compass Vets is to teach students cattle husbandry and handling skills.

Due to being a vets’ pet, she has terrible manners and frequently embarrasses us with bad behaviour and tons of sass.

We all feel this is a great learning opportunity for the students ………

Kerri Darlington

Kerri Darlington

Kezz is our practice manager, farmer, nurse all around do-er of all the things!!!

Kezz has been in the vet industry in many different roles for many years and in her current role is our accounts, payroll, team leader and vet wrangler!!

When not at work Kezz is likely to be running around after her family, breeding sheep, showing horses, breeding dogs or maybe growing some vegetables!

Ceri Robins

Ceri Robins

Coordinator Laboratory Services

With a background in zoology and a lifelong passion for all things weird and wonderful , Ceri brings a unique blend of scientific knowledge and hands-on experience to the team. Growing up in Botswana, she knew from an early age a career with animals and nature was all she wanted. After graduating from Nottingham Trent University with a degree in Zoo Biology, she headed down under with her (now) husband.
Before settling into farm vet practice, Ceri worked in a range of animal-related fields, including as an equine vet nurse, safari field guide, and research assistant/ lab tech at the South Australian Museum in their specialised Cetacean Tooth Aging Lab, which focused on dolphin age estimation through dentine analysis.

Ceri is part of our inhouse bull fertility program. Start to finish she assists with sample collection before conducting motility and morphology assessments in our (her) lab. She also coordinates our EMS student placements and has recently taken on managing our Market Assurance Programs.

At home, Ceri can be found running around after her young daughter, pottering around with her ever growing collection of misfit animals or working on her next crochet project with a cup of tea and biscuit in hand.

Petria Hill

Petria Hill

Receptionist

Petria is our voice of reason, the unflappable one who calmly goes about her day, creating order from chaos. Every team has one, and the days when Petria is on are always calm and fun.

Petria brings a wealth of knowledge of the veterinary industry with her, a passion for animals and a dedication to providing excellent and personalized care to the clients she meets.

Outside of work Petria enjoys spending time with her horses, dogs, garden and motorbike!

Amelia Cannadine

Amelia Cannadine

Veterinary Surgeon

Amelia has always wanted to be a mixed animal veterinarian, a rare breed in Australia now!!

Her special interests are in soft tissue surgery and internal medicine.

Amelia, like Tom also works at Willunga and Aldinga Vets.

When she is not at work Amelia enjoys netball, swimming, reading and spending time with family and friends.

Tom Rowe

Tom Rowe

Veterinary Surgeon

Tom is the newest member of the vet team, having graduated last year from University of Adelaide.

When he completed his placements here, we knew he was a keeper.
Tom brings an enthusiastic, can-do attitude to his work, and you might also see him in the small animal world as he is currently employed at Willunga and Aldinga Vets too!

Outside of work you will find him camping on the weekend, watching the footy or playing board games with mates.

Dan Robertson

Dan Robertson

Senior veterinary surgeon

Dan graduated from the University of Liverpool with a distinction in 2015. In a previous career he was an AI technician and has dedicated his career to farm animal practice since graduating (except when in the clinic where he is chief brew maker and Sootles personal assistant). His special interests within the veterinary fields are bovine fertility, disease eradication, transition cow management and regenerative agriculture.

Outside of work Dan enjoys following rugby league & union and having retired from playing rugby due to injury in 2012 he now enjoys playing football (soccer). He is an avid Manchester United supporter and also a keen sea angler.

Simon Edwards

Simon Edwards

Senior Veterinarian Practice Owner/Director

With over 30 years of experience in large animal veterinary practice, Simon is a cornerstone of Mount Compass Veterinary Livestock Services. His professional focus lies in herd health, reproductive management, and promoting the wellbeing of production animals — work he approaches with dedication, integrity, and a strong connection to the farming community.

Outside of his veterinary boots, Simon keeps life colourful. He’s often found cycling the hills of the Fleurieu Peninsula, playing bass with local band Dustbowl Chic, or caring for the ever-growing crew of resident felines at Wilde Cat Cottage — the clinic’s unofficial cat sanctuary. Later this year, Simon and his wife Sarah plan to hike Tasmania’s iconic Overland Track.

At heart, Simon is driven by a genuine care for animals, the people who raise them, and the team that supports them.

Sarah Bishop

Sarah Bishop

Practice Owner/Director

Sarah brings a deep understanding of the unique challenges and rewards that come with rural veterinary life. As our Wellbeing and HR Coordinator, she is passionate about creating a workplace culture that supports mental health, fosters connection, and values each member of the team.

Sarah’s career began in healthcare as a midwife, and she has also worked closely with homeless women, supporting some of the most vulnerable members of the community. These experiences fuel her ongoing commitment to wellbeing, advocacy, and practical support for those in high-stress environments.

At Mount Compass Veterinary Livestock Services, Sarah plays a vital role in shaping our team’s culture, ensuring that care for people is just as important as care for animals.

Adelaide University Students

Adelaide University Students

Final Year Students

At Compass Vets we are passionate about growing the next generation of large animal vets, so we have partnered with Adelaide University to have students here on a three week rotation.

While here they build their production animals skills while working closely with the veterinary team, to get them ready for their new careers.
