Senior Veterinarian Practice Owner/Director

Simon Edwards

With over 30 years of experience in large animal veterinary practice, Simon is a cornerstone of Mount Compass Veterinary Livestock Services. His professional focus lies in herd health, reproductive management, and promoting the wellbeing of production animals — work he approaches with dedication, integrity, and a strong connection to the farming community.

Outside of his veterinary boots, Simon keeps life colourful. He’s often found cycling the hills of the Fleurieu Peninsula, playing bass with local band Dustbowl Chic, or caring for the ever-growing crew of resident felines at Wilde Cat Cottage — the clinic’s unofficial cat sanctuary. Later this year, Simon and his wife Sarah plan to hike Tasmania’s iconic Overland Track.

At heart, Simon is driven by a genuine care for animals, the people who raise them, and the team that supports them.

HR and Wellbeing Co-Ordinator, Practice Owner/Director

Sarah Bishop

Sarah brings a deep understanding of the unique challenges and rewards that come with rural veterinary life. As our Wellbeing and HR Coordinator, she is passionate about creating a workplace culture that supports mental health, fosters connection, and values each member of the team.

Sarah’s career began in healthcare as a midwife, and she has also worked closely with homeless women, supporting some of the most vulnerable members of the community. These experiences fuel her ongoing commitment to wellbeing, advocacy, and practical support for those in high-stress environments.

At Mount Compass Veterinary Livestock Services, Sarah plays a vital role in shaping our team’s culture, ensuring that care for people is just as important as care for animals.

Senior Veterinarian

Dan Robertson

Dan graduated from the University of Liverpool with a distinction in 2015. In a previous career he was an AI technician and has dedicated his career to farm animal practice since graduating (except when in the clinic where he is chief brew maker and Sootles personal assistant). His special interests within the veterinary fields are bovine fertility, disease eradication, transition cow management and regenerative agriculture.

Outside of work Dan enjoys following rugby league & union and having retired from playing rugby due to injury in 2012 he now enjoys playing football (soccer). He is an avid Manchester United supporter and also a keen sea angler.

Veterinary Surgeon

Amelia Cannadine

Amelia has always aspired to become a mixed animal veterinarian – a path that has become increasingly rare in Australia. She brings a strong professional interest in soft tissue surgery and internal medicine, and is passionate about delivering high-quality care across both large and small animals.

Alongside her role at Compass Vets, Amelia also works with the Willunga and Aldinga Veterinary Clinics, further broadening her clinical experience and community connections.

Outside of veterinary practice, Amelia is a keen netball player and swimmer, and enjoys reading and spending quality time with family and friends.

Veterinary Surgeon

Tom Rowe

Tom is the newest member of our veterinary team, graduating last year from the University of Adelaide. During his student placements with Compass Vets, his dedication and enthusiasm quickly showed us he was a natural fit for the team.

He brings an energetic, can-do approach to his work and is developing his skills across both large and small animal practice. Alongside his role here, Tom also works with the Willunga and Aldinga Veterinary Clinics, broadening his clinical experience and community connections.

Outside of work, Tom enjoys weekend camping adventures, watching the footy, and playing board games with friends.

Veterinary Support and Laboratory Services Co-Ordinator

Ceri Robins

With a background in zoology and a lifelong passion for all things weird and wonderful , Ceri brings a unique blend of scientific knowledge and hands-on experience to the team.

Growing up in Botswana, she knew from an early age a career with animals and nature was all she wanted. After graduating from Nottingham Trent University with a degree in Zoo Biology, she headed down under with her (now) husband.
Before settling into farm vet practice, Ceri worked in a range of animal-related fields, including as an equine vet nurse, safari field guide, and research assistant/ lab tech at the South Australian Museum in their specialised Cetacean Tooth Aging Lab, which focused on dolphin age estimation through dentine analysis.

Ceri is part of our inhouse bull fertility program. Start to finish she assists with sample collection before conducting motility and morphology assessments in our (her) lab. She also coordinates our EMS student placements and has recently taken on managing our Market Assurance Programs.

At home, Ceri can be found running around after her young daughter, pottering around with her ever growing collection of misfit animals or working on her next crochet project with a cup of tea and biscuit in hand.

Administration and Finance Co-Ordinator

Kerri Darlington

Kerri (Kezz) brings a wealth of experience to her role as Administration and Finance Coordinator at Compass Vets. With many years in the veterinary industry across a variety of roles, she is highly skilled in managing accounts, payroll, and inventory, while also providing vital support to our veterinary team. The breadth of Kerri’s role is central to keeping our clinic running smoothly, linking together the financial, administrative, and operational sides of the business.

Outside of work, Kerri is a passionate farmer and active community member. She enjoys breeding sheep and dogs, showing horses, tending to her vegetable garden, and spending time with her family. Her dedication, versatility, and strong work ethic make her an invaluable part of our team.

Veterinary Receptionist

Petria Hill

Petria is our voice of reason, the unflappable one who calmly goes about her day, creating order from chaos. Every team has one, and the days when Petria is on are always calm and fun.

Petria brings a wealth of knowledge of the veterinary industry with her, a passion for animals and a dedication to providing excellent and personalized care to the clients she meets.

Outside of work Petria enjoys spending time with her horses, dogs, garden and motorbike!

Veterinary Receptionist

Holly Edwards

Holly grew up immersed in veterinary life, spending her childhood alongside her dad, Simon, out on farms and in the clinic, developing a love for animals and agriculture from an early age. After first working at Compass Vets, Holly pursued a career in human healthcare as a Cardiac ICU nurse, gaining valuable skills in organization, precision, and patient care.
Drawn back by her passion for farming and livestock, Holly has rejoined Compass Vets in a client-facing role. She is often the welcoming face at our front desk, coordinating appointments, supporting the veterinary team, and ensuring the clinic runs smoothly.

Outside of work, Holly enjoys staying connected to the rural community that has always felt like home. She especially loves being in, near, or in the ocean, spending time with her dog Burra, cat Sox and travelling the country camping with her partner, Jason.

University Of Adelaide Students

At Compass Vets, we are committed to fostering the next generation of large-animal veterinarians. Through our partnership with the University of Adelaide, we host veterinary students on three-week clinical rotations.

During their placement, students gain valuable hands-on experience in production animal practice, working closely alongside our experienced veterinary team. This immersive training helps them develop the practical skills, knowledge, and confidence needed to prepare for their future careers.

Clinic Cat

Sootles

Sootles, (aka Sooty, Fluffy McBootle) is our clinic cat and inbuilt calming body for frazzled vets and support staff alike.

She narrowly escaped euthanasia when her former human needed to enter a supported accommodation facility.

It is unclear if Sootles is in-fact an apex predator or sloth……

Clinic Cow

Lady Destiny Of Almora

Destiny literally landed on her feet when she landed here!!

Her role here at Compass Vets is to teach students cattle husbandry and handling skills.

Due to being a vets’ pet, she has terrible manners and frequently embarrasses us with bad behaviour and tons of sass.

We all feel this is a great learning opportunity for the students ………

Clinic Doggo

Vinnie

Vinnie’s application said that he was the outdoor type……..He lied!!

He is a lap dog and hates the cold.

He also doesn’t like going in the car, is scared of cows and does not get out of bed before 9 am!!
